Sparkling and alcohol-free wine from the Schlink cellars.

Nestled in the charming village of Machtum, along the banks of the Luxembourg Moselle, the Schlink family wine estate has been producing top-quality wine for four generations, known for their freshness and elegance. Spread over 14 hectares in some of the finest vineyards surrounding the village, the young independent winemaker cultivates traditional Luxembourg grape varieties.

Recognised quality

The vines thrive in a prime location, with a southeast exposure to the sun, growing in limestone-rich soils that impart a unique minerality to the wines. ‘Our wines are characterised by their quality structure and aromatic complexity, which they owe to a rigorous harvest selection and careful vine managemen,’ emphasises Jean-Marc Schlink.

Alcohol-free sparkling wine

Producing alcohol-free sparkling wine is more complex because alcohol plays a key role in balancing flavors and expressing aromas. ‘The challenge is to maintain the quality of the product while preserving an authentic taste. The secret of our delicious alcohol-free sparkling wine lies in adding the right amount of sugar to compensate for the absence of alcohol. It’s crucial not to overdo it, so the taste doesn’t resemble grape juice. Since its launch in 2022, our sparkling wine has been a huge hit among wine enthusiasts,’ explains Jean-Marc Schlink.

To eliminate ethanol, the alcohol molecule, Jean-Marc opted for vacuum distillation at low temperatures, below 30 degrees, to preserve the aromas. ‘When we bo le the dealcoholised base wine, we add carbon dioxide to create the bubbles,’ he explains.

This alcohol-free sparkling wine is a blend of 60% Riesling, 30% Pinot Blanc and 10% Rivaner. It is particularly distinctive for its pale yellow colour, fruity bouquet and notes of lime and green apple. The palate is fresh, balanced and slightly lemony.
